ORGANIZATION: Hopkins Community Cinema

A volunteer movie night usher is a friendly and helpful individual who contributes to a smooth and enjoyable cinematic experience for all attendees. They are the welcoming face of the event, ensuring patrons feel comfortable and safe.

Here's a breakdown of their typical responsibilities:

  • Greeting and Assisting: Warmly welcoming guests upon arrival, checking tickets, and providing general information about the event, such as restroom locations, concession stands, and emergency exits.
  • Guiding and Directing: Assisting patrons in finding their seats, especially in dimly lit theaters, and ensuring orderly entry and exit.
  • Maintaining Order: Monitoring the audience during the film to minimize disruptions, such as excessive talking, phone usage, or other distracting behaviors.
  • Ensuring Safety: Being aware of emergency procedures and assisting in evacuations if necessary. They may also monitor aisles and exits for safety hazards.
  • Clean-up Assistance: Helping to tidy up the theater after the movie, including picking up trash and ensuring seats are in order for the next showing.
  • Providing Information: Answering questions about the movie, upcoming events, or the venue itself.
  • Creating a Positive Atmosphere: Maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor, contributing to a welcoming and enjoyable movie-going experience.
