Texas Spring Campground:

This first-come first-serve campground is located in the foothills of the Furnace Creek area of Death Valley National Park. It is open seasonally between mid-October and mid-April. It has 92 sites. The lower loop of the campground is tent only. The upper loop accommodates both tents and RVs. Generator use is prohibited in this campground. All sites have a fire pit and picnic table. Some campsites have trees that offer limited shade, but most are unshaded. There are restrooms with flush toilets and running water and a dump station for RVs/Trailers. The camp host site is a non-powered dry site. The closest full sized grocery store, pharmacy, and medical services is located 65 miles away in Pahrump, NV. Most cell phone carriers work in the Furnace Creek area, but reception can be limited or even non-existent during periods of high visitation. There are some amenities located half a mile from the campground including a few restaurants, small convenience store, gas station, post office, laundry facilities, pool, and golf course. WIFI is NOT provided in the campground. Free WIFI is available at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and Stovepipe Wells Ranger Station. Previous camp hosts have been successful with bringing in their own satellites and having their own internet setup. If you telework/work remotely, reliable internet is your responsibility.

General Position Description:

Camp hosts reside in their own RV and are responsible for greeting visitors and helping guests solve problems in a friendly and professional manner. Hosts wear the National Park Service Volunteer-in-Parks (VIP) uniform while on duty. Camp hosts must work well with people, provide excellent customer service, while being neat in appearance. Hosts are responsible for performing compliance checks on foot, three times a day, and must be able to perform light maintenance of the campground. Candidates must be able to walk between 1-5 miles a day in all kinds of weather. Hosts are expected to work 32 to 40 hours a week, often during busy holidays and weekends. Fee Collection is NOT required of camp hosts. A minimum commitment of 3 months is preferred. Requirements:

Candidates must have a motorhome (RV or Trailer) to be considered for the position. Selected candidates must also turn in a valid and clean driving record from their state's DMV (may require paying a small processing fee, depending on your state).

Compensation:

Hosts are provided a dry site within the campground. If full hookups (electricity, water, sewer) are preferred, one may be available that is removed from the campground . Free laundry facilities and employee pool is available for volunteer use in Cow Creek. Camp hosts are reimbursed for propane expenses. Volunteers who work a minimum of 250 hours are eligible for a free Interagency Annual Pass.
