Before coming out:
- Bring reusable water bottle (we don't have cups), reusable gloves (gardening or mechanic), and sun protection.
- Avoid bringing plastic bottles, bags of chips, and other single use plastic products.
- I recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, shorts, and flip flops.
- Dress for the beach
Arriving:
- Parking will be free. Enter through the Bolsa Chica main entrance on PCH. Turn right and head towards Warner Ave. You will see our tent and flags north of Sea Legs.
- Check in at the Surfrider popup tent
- We have bags
Cleaning up:
- You can scavenge the shoreline, beach, parking lot, etc.
- Do NOT collect seaweed, wood, rocks, stones, seashells by the seashore sold by Sally. Let us know if you find any 'sleeping' animals for Parks and Rec. to scoop up.
- Bring us back your trash once your bag is full, time runs out, or you must leave. We will weigh the trash, record the weight, then sort out the trash for items to be recycled
- For those that need community service hours, it is at this point that you can get a form stating you attended the cleanup.
And our chapter is always looking for new members. Ask us when you can come out to a meeting to join us to be a bigger part of the community.

Mission Statement
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.
Description
WHAT WE DO:
Protect our oceans, waves and beaches. Surfrider's most important coastal work is carried out by its 90 chapters located along the East, West, Gulf, Puerto Rican, and Hawaiian coasts. Surfrider now has over 50,000 members in the USA; in addition, International Surfrider chapters and affiliates have been established in the countries of Japan, Brazil, Australia, France and Spain.
VOLUNTEERING:
The Surfrider Foundation's biggest strength is our grassroots, community based chapters and their ability to act as local activists for the protection of the coast. In order to strengthen and build on these core competencies, the organization must continually expand our chapter network's volunteer base. There are many levels of volunteer activities to suit your taste. Whether you are a first time volunteer or an old pro, don't be shy about asking questions of our chapter members. Everyone has to start on some level and we are grateful that you are taking the first step. Attend a local chapter meeting and ask about volunteer opportunities. Remember that the Surfrider Foundation is only as effective as you are, our volunteers. We don't exist without you!
