A hospice patient sitter volunteer provides non-medical comfort and companionship to patients and their families. Occasionally, patient's family/caregivers need relief to run errands, attend doctors appointments, etc.., and some do not have family to help. In this case, a volunteer would offer their time to help the family. Volunteer sitters cannot do anything medical, and can not sit for longer than three hours at a time. While sitting, volunteers can provide companionship, read, watch tv, do puzzles or anything of the sort that the patient may be up to doing. Passages Hospice provides care, comfort and support for people with serious or life-limiting illnesses. We focus on improving quality of life and dignity for patients and their families. Our volunteer organization is a group dedicated to providing compassionate companionship and emotional support to our patients and their families. Our volunteers may also contribute to administrative tasks and community outreach efforts.
