Serve our most vulnerable neighbor on the street on Thursdays for two hours! Please use this link to register on specific dates: https://cityrelief.vomo.org/opportunity/2025sdr
Volunteers will meet City Relief staff at Sarah D. Roosevelt Park on the South Side of Delancey Street between Christie and Forsyth at 10:45 AM.
Volunteers will join together with City Relief staff and our community partners to throw a block party and create a welcoming environment!
Volunteers assist with a variety of activities such as
- Setting up tables, chairs, and tents on the street.
- Pass out beverages and snacks to visitors at the outreach hub.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness at and around the outreach.
- Travel in teams walking around the nearby area to meet tangible needs (socks, clothing, and snacks) and offer connection to resources with a City Relief Staff person’s guidance.
- Assist with site clean up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and tents.
Volunteers are encouraged to personally interact, through conversation, hospitality and even prayer with the people we serve. As a volunteer, you will help connect guests to City Relief staff for a Life Care Visit; a conversation where hope and tailored resources are offered.
We look forward to seeing you at City Relief!
*Please note that all City Relief outreaches take place outside rain or shine.
*While you may have signed up for a specific volunteer role, please be aware that our outreach leaders may adjust roles as needed. We kindly ask for your flexibility to ensure the outreach runs smoothly.

Minor Policy: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. If you’re under 18, you'll need an adult chaperone (one for every four minor volunteers) and a parent’s consent to participate.
Attendance: Please stay for the entire outreach. If you can’t commit to the full time slot, choose a different date when you can stay from start to finish.
What to Wear: Since all our outreaches are outdoors, dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. Avoid expensive clothing, jewelry, or anything with inappropriate messages. Try to bring only what you need.
Summer Tips: Wear modest clothing, like longer shorts and t-shirts. If you burn easily, pack sunscreen and a hat. Closed-toed shoes are a must.
Winter Tips: It gets cold and windy, so layer up with a warm coat, hats, gloves, and boots. Consider extra layers like insulated pants and multiple socks for added warmth.
