About InReach: We are InReach, a trans-led tech nonprofit building the world’s first open source verified LGBTQ+ resource platform. InReach is available on web (desktop and mobile), native iOS, and Android. Our vision is to ensure every trans and queer person has on-demand access to the safe resources they need to thrive. Over 420,000 people have used InReach to access verified LGBTQ+ resources.

With rising anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and rhetoric, the need for InReach has never been greater. We’re looking for passionate Press and Media Engagement Volunteers to help expand our media outreach and ensure more LGBTQ+ people know about this life-saving resource.

Responsibilities
  • Build and regularly update media lists and editorial calendars.
  • Draft and send pitches to relevant journalists/reporters via email, phone, and social media.
  • Monitor media trends to identify timely opportunities for InReach to secure press coverage.
  • Support the creation of press materials, including press releases, media kits, and talking points.
  • Track media mentions and engagement, reporting on key press coverage.
  • Assist in responding to press inquiries in coordination with InReach’s leadership team.
Qualifications
  • Passion for LGBTQ+ rights, social justice, and technology for good.
  • Strong writing, communication, and research skills.
  • Ability to craft compelling pitches and media outreach strategies.
  • Experience with PR, communications, and/or journalism.
  • Comfortable reaching out to journalists/reporters via email, phone, and social media.
  • Detail-oriented and able to track multiple media relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fully remote environment.

InReach is a trans-led nonprofit offering the world’s first open source platform connecting LGBTQ+ people facing persecution or discrimination with safe, independently verified resources. Our vision is for every LGBTQ+ person to have on-demand access to the safe resources they need to thrive.

InReach is available on web (desktop and mobile), and native iOS and Android. InReach’s open-source technology instantly matches trans and queer people in need with safe, independently verified housing, medical and mental health care, immigration and other legal help, meal assistance, education and employment, translation, community and spiritual support, and more critical services. App features include: documentation search filters, translation, saving and sharing resources, leaving public ratings/reviews, the ability to suggest new resources, and service provider features.

InReach serves as a comprehensive digital one-stop-shop for the intersectional LGBTQ+ community: InReach lists verified services for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, refugees and other immigrants, LGBTQ+ BIPOC communities, trans and gender non-conforming folks, LGBTQ+ youth and caregivers, and more LGBTQ+ communities. The InReach App is free for everyone, including lawyers, case managers, social workers, and other providers searching for affirming resource referrals for LGBTQ+ clients.
