Wildlife Rescue League (WRL) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Northern Virginia whose mission is to support the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and, through education, to foster appreciation of our wild neighbors. WRL operates a Wildlife Helpline available daily and staffed by trained volunteers. The Helpline provides expert advice on how to respond to wildlife issues.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented volunteer to serve as chairperson for our Wildlife Helpline Committee. Responsibilities include providing helpline training to strengthen helpline volunteer performance and knowledge; and ensuring all helpline shifts are staffed, call data entered on an online workbook, and helpline procedures followed. The Helpline Committee Chair also should be available to provide advice and support to helpline volunteers. The estimated time commitment is 8-10 hours per week.
Each chairperson works with the Board of Directors to establish annual goals, and leads a team of volunteers to achieve them. The committee chair is a working position, performed on a volunteer basis without compensation, and is for a two-year term. The ideal candidate will have project management skills, expertise with spreadsheets and other Google documents, and an appreciation for wildlife.
Please go to the following location to complete your volunteer application: Volunteer Questionnaire. Our volunteer coordinator will respond shortly. Look for responses in your email inbox or spam folder.
