Visitor Center Attendant

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The National Parks of Hyde Park, NY seek friendly and flexible Visitor Center Attendants to staff the information center at Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site. Visitor Center Attendants work with Park Rangers perform the following duties:

  • Answer visitor inquiries regarding site history and the local area, in person and via phone
  • Administer the Junior Ranger program
  • Ensure resource preservation and safety by following proper NPS procedures and giving safety messages to visitors


Time Commitment

Visitor Center Attendants usually serve one, four-hour shift per week. A volunteer’s shift will be assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator, based on the park’s needs and with input from the volunteer.

No prior experience is necessary. Training and orientation will be provided by the park and is mandatory for all new volunteers.
