ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Description:

Help keep the St. Croix Watershed beautiful! As a Watershed Waste Warrior, you'll contribute directly to the health of our rivers and parks by removing litter and debris.


Service Details:

  • Volunteers will work within the St. Croix Watershed.
  • Shift lengths will vary but are typically 2-4 hours. Volunteers sign up for shifts as available.

Goals for Position:

  • Support cleanup efforts in the St. Croix Watershed.
  • Contribute to the preservation and protection of natural areas.
  • Help provide clean and safe park experiences for visitors.

Working Environment and Safety Considerations:

  • Work occurs outdoors at river landings, parks, roadsides, and trails.
  • Must be prepared to work in various weather conditions.
  • Terrain may be uneven, rocky, and sometimes slippery.
  • Must follow safety protocols and guidelines provided during orientation.



Description of Duties:

  • Walk through designated areas (picnic areas, wooded areas, etc.) to collect trash and recyclables.
  • Use provided trash grabbers to collect litter.
  • Drive personal vehicle to work sites.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and report any concerns to event staff.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry bagged litter.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
