This volunteer Safety Specialist position is being offered through the DOD SkillBridge program, which provides Military Service members with an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during their last 180 days of service.
SkillBridge intern will assist Steamtown's Safety & Occupational Health Manager and Facilities programs to ensure a safe work environment for employees, volunteers, and visitors. Responsibilities:
- Participate in safety inspections and learn how hazards are identified and addressed.
- Conduct facility checks to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety standards.
- Identify and report common workplace hazards, such as blocked exits, improper storage, and electrical issues.
- Assist with safety training and orientation for employees and volunteers.
- Review past inspection reports to enhance safety awareness.
- Attend training sessions and apply safety best practices.
