Individuals and families from across San Luis Obispo and surrounding areas are invited to the first annual Team Up with Special Olympics Southern California, a day of interactive sports and activities featuring local Special Olympics programs and opportunities to register to become an athlete, unified partner, volunteer or volunteer coach. There is no charge to attend.

Special Olympics Southern California is inviting all community members to join Special Olympics athletes, unified partners, volunteers, and volunteer coaches to its first-ever Team Up event. The event is intended to recognize and celebrate those that make Special Olympics possible in the area; to welcome those that may want to become an athlete, volunteer, or supporter in the future; to simply enjoy interactive activities together.

Activities atthe event: Bocce, Flag Football, Soccer

Young Athletes: Inclusive activities for children with and without intellectual disabilities, ages 2-7, to develop their motor, social and cognitive skills through foundational sports play.

  • Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools(r): empowers educators, students and administrators to create more inclusive school campuses and help end the stigma of intellectual disabilities.
  • Special Olympics Healthy Athletes(r): Special Olympics is the world’s largest public health organization for people with intellectual disabilities. Learn about our Healthy Athletes program, MedFests and more.
  • Special Olympics Unified Sports(r): brings individuals with and without intellectual disabilities together on the field of play, promoting social inclusion and friendship through shared sports experiences.
  • Athlete Leadership Programs: Special Olympics provides athletes with training to develop leadership skills and use their voices and abilities to inspire others, influence change and create inclusive communities.
  • LETR: meet law enforcement officers from LETR, the largest public awareness vehicle and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics.
