Please visit the new page to apply.

We are looking to grow our walk committee this year! We are looking for volutneers who enjoy event planning, networking and wanting to see a change in their community around mental health and suicide prevention.
Our walk meetings are scheduled with the following cadence:
- February - April: First Monday of the month, 4:30 - 5:30 via Zoom.
- May - July: First Tuesday of the month, 4:30 - 5:30, in person at Paddlehead stadium
- August/September - 2-3 Tuesdays as needed to prepare for the last minute walk preparations. Typically the 1 st and 3 rd Tuesdays, but may be adjusted based on leader availability during August.
In addition to our monthly meetings, we have a variety of job roles that are divided up among committee members, and these roles do include some planning work outside of the meeting time itself. Examples include gathering sponsorships, walker recruitment/engagement, pre walk event support/planning, day of walk logistics planning, etc. There are also a variety of pre-walk events that we encourage walk members to participate in and/or volunteer to work as often as is possible with your existing schedules. We try to share working these events amongst the group, so the more committee members we have, the easier it is to cover all of the events that we schedule.
Our walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 13 th. Our committee members are typically on site for the event between 7/7:30a and 1:00/1:30p.

Mission Statement
Our Mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.
Description
AFSP Montana Chapter was founded in 2001 and has been working to educate Montana about suicide prevention, advocate for legislation that will save lives, and support those who’ve experienced loss or who have lived experience. We believe that suicide is preventable, and that with enough people doing the work, spreading the message and stomping out stigma, we can make a difference. As a voluntary organization, our grassroots efforts engage families, mental health professionals, community and local business leaders, school administrators and others interested in preventing suicide.
We hope you will join us in the fight to #StopSuicide by supporting the AFSP Montana Chapter as a volunteer, walker, advocate, donor, or sponsor!
