JOB SUMMARY
The Narrative Manager will amplify the Acts of Kindness our Supporters and Staff complete. This role will work closely with other Creative Department teams to ensure that Act stories are told respectfully, compassionately, and ethically. This team will also be responsible for keeping historical and accessible records of Random Acts projects, initiatives, and Acts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review all Supporter and Staff Acts of Kindness for publication/amplification
- Work with various departments (including Digital Marketing, Social Media, DEI, and Multimedia) to decide how each Act is amplified.
- Create and manage historical archives of Random Acts projects and Acts to be accessible to all volunteers, including ensuring web accessibility standards for volunteers with disabilities.
- Manage a team while focused on fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture, and ensure the department runs in a timely and organized manner.
- Regularly meet with staff, conduct 1x1s and hold department meetings.
- Attend Creative Leadership meetings.
- Task the Narrative team, as well as other Creative Department teams, with projects to amplify Acts, such as creating videos, blogs, and social media posts.
- Track Acts to publication to ensure they’re amplified in a manner that reflects Random Acts vision and mission.
- Commitment to ensure Act stories are told in a way that is respectful, socially conscious, and ethical.
- Commitment to ensuring that stories from marginalized or underrepresented communities are amplified in a way that honors their experiences and is mindful of their intersectionality and equity.
- Conduct interviews for new members of the Narrative Team.
- Various administrative tasks as assigned.
- Attend regular staff and departmental meetings.
- Provide regular Act story updates to the Executive Team.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experience in storytelling and narrative writing, especially for nonprofit organizations.
- Passion for kindness.
- Firm understanding of Random Acts mission and how amplification of Acts plays a vital role in it.
- Experience in online publishing and specifically experience with WordPress.
- An understanding of social media platforms and communicating to different audiences in the online medium.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including staff, supporters, and the public.
- The ability to communicate effectively, whether verbally, visually, or in writing, as well as proficient interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team, and the ability to manage tasks or projects from implementation through to completion.
- Proficient organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask effectively.
- Flexible work schedule to accommodate projects, evening and weekend meetings.
- Able to commit a minimum of 5-10 hours per week to Random Acts activities.

Most of our roles are completely remote!
Random Acts inspires many amazing things around the world every day - from small acts of kindness, such as inspiring someone to buy a stranger a cup of coffee, to much bigger acts of kindness like building a school in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
All of these acts of kindness contribute to a bigger story, a message that Random Acts embodies and promotes - that you too can change the world one random act of kindness at a time.
