Social Media Coordinator (Volunteer)

Role Overview:
The Social Media Coordinator helps promote the Climbing Association of Southern Arizona's (CASA) mission and local Tucson events through digital platforms. This volunteer role involves creating and managing content to engage the Arizona climbing community and support CASA’s initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation & Scheduling: Develop and schedule engaging posts for Instagram, Facebook, and Threads using Canva or similar tools.
  • Collaboration: Work with CASA volunteers to gather photos, videos, and updates for timely posts.
  • Community Engagement: Respond to messages, comments, and mentions; manage CASA’s presence on Mountain Project’s Arizona forum.
  • Event Promotion: Create digital campaigns for local events like Adopt-A-Crags, Clean-ups, Education Nights, and Donation Drives.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Threads) required.
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar) required.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills preferred.
  • Interest in rock climbing, conservation, or outdoor advocacy (preferred but not required).

Support for Volunteers:
CASA provides past content, branding guidelines, key contacts, and training on scheduling tools.

This role is a great way to support the Tucson climbing community, gain or increase digital marketing experience, and connect with local climbers.

Climbing Association of Southern Arizona (CASA) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization that advocates for local climbers through stewardship, education and partnership with land managers

Description

What We Do
CASA is a home for climbers in Southern Arizona. It’s a place where you can learn about new skills and have fun being a steward of the areas we use. Our work is the foundation for our advocacy for climbers, and it empowers us to address access issues when they arise.

Structure
CASA is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization modeled after the Access Fund. Donations from the community support our projects and events through participation and financial contributions. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization.

Projects

Our goal is to provide you with resources, opportunities, and education so you can work on what’s important to you. We’re currently planning:

  • Adopt a Crag events
  • Regular Mt. Lemmon highway cleanup
  • Graffiti abatement/removal for Windy Point
  • Anchor/Bolt replacement team
  • Education Series events
  • Partnerships with local land managers, user groups, and other organizations through collaborative relationships

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two to four hours per week, depending upon active events
  • Most CASA activities/events occur September through May. It is recommended that the volunteer is present in Tucson, Arizona for at least part of the calendar year to participate in some of the CASA events. Work can be completed remotely.
