Calling Volunteers!
Please join us to support Melwood’s 3rd Annual Eggstravaganza and Spring Festival that will be held on Saturday, April 19th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Melwood Recreation Center in Nanjemoy, Maryland.
Volunteers are needed on 2 separate days (pre-event set up date and the actual event day). Several volunteer shifts and tasks are listed below:
Day 1: Friday, April 18, 2025 Pre Event Set-up
8: 00 am - 5:00 pm
Event Set-up - includes the following tasks:
· Test all inflatable items
· Construct tent/canopies
· Erect vendor and prize tables and chairs in appropriate areas
· Set up volunteer areas
· Label game prize
· Set up sensory area with furniture
· Hide eggs along a designated trail
· Layout games in designated area
· Organize all event signage
· Prepare event volunteer off-site packages
Day 2: Saturday, April 19, EGGstravaganza Volunteer Shifts
Shift #1: 8:00 am -12:30pm - Primary tasks will include setting up for the event and learning the responsibilities for the second shift volunteers. During the shift transition from 12-12:30, you will be responsible for showing the incoming volunteers their tasks. Other tasks include:
· Set up all games in designated areas
· Add table covering to all tables
· Place all vendor and partners signs according to event map
· Assist with vendor set-up
· Set-up and staff volunteer check-in table
· Set-up volunteer hospitality room
· Directional volunteers and vendor - assist attendees with maps and where to find activities and events
Shift #2: 11:30am - 5:30pm - Volunteers must arrive no later than 11:30. Primary tasks will be to support the event activities and to help clean up the event during the last 1.5 hours of this shift.Other tasks include:
· Staff information stations for attendees
· Assist Arts and Crafts activity, as needed
· Volunteer Relief - allow volunteers to take breaks from games, activities, etc.
· Staff the EGGstravaganza Bunny photo line
· Staff volunteer check-in table
· Staff volunteer hospitality room
· Count number of attendees coming through check-in
· Serve as EGG hunt buddies
· Directional volunteers - assist attendees with maps and where to find activities and events
· Staff EGG drop-off and hand out prizes
· Parking lot attendants- 5 different locations within a 2-3-mile radius and ensure attendees get on and off correctly labeled bus or van; welcome attendees and thank them for coming
· Post Event dismantle - remove all event materials and store in designated area
Volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up for a virtual orientation that will be scheduled in advance of this event. This training orientation is intended to better prepare volunteers to support the event and to respond to questions.MS Team links will be provided after sign up and closer to the training dates.

- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Must be at least 16
