ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Saratoga National Historical Park contains two historic houses which are open to the public on a seasonal basis. The Neilson House (built c.1776) is located on the Battlefield Tour Road at stop number 2. The Schuyler House (built 1777) is in modern day Schuylerville, NY, about 9 miles north of the Battlefield. Both houses possess complex stories which help us develop a deeper understanding of the Battles of Saratoga, the American Revolution, and the United States. The park is also home to the Saratoga Monument, a granite obelisk that rises more than 150 feet above Schuylerville and Victory, NY.

Volunteers play a key role in welcoming visitors to these sites and helping them understand related events, people, and stories surrounding them.

As a representative of the National Park Service, volunteers are held to the same standards and rules as NPS staff. Volunteers will be provided with clothing showing their status as volunteers. They will be expected to provide their own pants and closed toed shoes.

Schedules are created by the Volunteer Coordinator on a periodic basis throughout the year. Some of these locations are only open on weekends.
