Help land stewards Nathan Herbert and Sanketh of The Nature Conservancy and our partner Kosciusko Water & Woodland Invasives Partnership with hand-pulling invasive shrubs from Oppenheim Woods in Kosciusko County! Invasive species pose a significant threat to this ecosystem and many other natural areas in Indiana. Out-competing native species, invasives reduce biodiversity and cause habitat loss for Indiana’s native insects, birds, and other animals. Come be a part of the solution at this family-friendly Weed Wrangle. What to Expect: Volunteers of all ages are welcome as this is a great service activity for Scouts and kids wanting to give back to their local natural areas! No experience needed, just be comfortable walking over uneven terrain and doing some moderate bending and pulling. What to Bring: All supplies and instructions are provided, as is bottled water and granola bars. Please come prepared with drinking water, closed-toed working shoes, and weather-appropriate layers. Sign up here: Spring Weed Wrangle at Oppenheim Woods Note: This event is 9am ET

Description
The Nature Conservancy in Indiana's Indianapolis office exists to support our field offices performing on-the-ground conservation across the state. There are six field offices spanning four ecoregions, and our chapter has between 40-70 employees, depending on the season. The Indianapolis office houses our finance, philanthropy, human resources, government relations, land protection and science/stewardship departments. Working together, The Nature Conservancy in Indiana identifies unique ecosystems and threats to those ecosystems by acquiring lands, mitigating threats, and restoring historical landscapes to a more natural state.
