Mission Statement

1.MISSION: PRAYER, PASTORAL CARE: Pray for & with others to overcome fear, work with one another; include everyone in our community as God's children; be Where the Holy Spirit is praised through our distinctive testimony. 2.REVITALIZATION: An attractive church that focuses on the Holy Spirit and makes people and families interested. 3.NEW MISSION: Connect with the community to encourage people of all ages and cultures to participate, serve, and be empowered. 4.SOCIAL JUSTICE: Foster and aid the community as a kind of worship; accept everyone with linguistic, cultural, and economic differences; confront poverty and self-confidence; embrace the marginalized. 5.GREATER COMMUNITY: Engage with all cultural, economic, and community organizations (schools, families, councils, etc.); urge business, government, and faith-based institutions to address challenges and be effective in ministry per Christ's teachings.

Description

CENTRAL: A small, energetic community working in English + bilingually to empower our neighbors in Van Nuys through love and grace to be who God has made them to be.
Our vision: We want to be people who accept and live in God's grace, who follow Jesus Christ, and who serve others.
January 1929 Central was a mission outreach & became a vital part of serving a wide range of needs through the depression and post-war Van Nuys. It flourished in the 50's-70's but lost its connection with mission, so dwindled.
NOW, for 15 years, hosted homeless services agencies & opened worship to marginalized folk, experiencing loneliness, disconnectedness, & personal trauma.
TODAY: Core of folks serve both persons experiencing poverty & hunger among the housed neighbors + persons experiencing homelessness.

* Women's Empowerment (w/childcare);
* Kids Community and Support
* Summer kids programs (camp onsite July 2020; Camp opportunities @ mountains late-July 2020)
* Faith & spiritual development-all ages
