Mission Statement
Project Bread's mission is to offer a fresh approach to ending hunger. We aim to alleviate, prevent, and ultimately end hunger in Massachusetts through innovative programs.
Description
Project Bread is the voice of hungry people in Massachusetts. It is volunteers, Walkers, and donors that commit to helping year after year. It is city and school officials that help children eat nutritious meals in schools and in the summer. It is local anti-hunger networks that work together to help their communities. It is the state officials and community members that advocate for change. It is the emergency food providers that feed our hungry neighbors each day.
Project Bread funds 400 food pantries, soup kitchens, and food banks all over Massachusetts. We run the only statewide hunger hotline that answers 35,000 calls a year from families in need. We work with schools to offer breakfast programs, and fund summer programs so that kids get a nutritious meal when school's out. The first Sunday in May each year, we run the oldest continual pledge walk in the country, The Walk for Hunger.
