Jump 4 Books, Inc is seeking 3 new board members to begin in July 2025. Mission: Jump 4 Books, Inc was founded in April 2023. The organization's mission is to bring awareness to disparities in childhood literacy and expanding access to quality reading materials in underserved communities.

The board helps ensure that the organization is executing its mission and values and produces positive results. The board is a critical element in developing Jump 4 Books, Inc as an effective organization. The board’s duties include 1) selecting and evaluating the organization’s activities 2) approving the organization’s budget; 4) fulfilling legal responsibilities; 5) providing oversight functions; 6) promoting Jump 4 Book’s mission and values; 7) cultivating relationships with donors, funders, and stakeholders to promote fundraising; and 8) taking an active role in strategic planning and other goal setting. The board is an energetic group of individuals with an interest in educational disparities in underserved communities working towards a common goal.

What will a strong board member exhibit?

When possible, board member positions are filled by people who fit the needed categories and also have expertise in one or more of the following areas: accounting, education, special education, early childhood services, marketing, fundraising, grant writing, and/or public administration/policy. While having board members with experience in these areas is beneficial to Jump 4 Books, it is not absolutely required.

What do board member duties entail?

· The board meets most often once per month. Regular board meetings are currently held on the 3rd Sunday of each month, 6PM ET via teleconference. Meetings last approximately 60 minutes. Occasionally, special meetings are called to address time sensitive matters.

· Each board member will be asked to participate in a committee which can meet bi-monthly, if necessary.

· Board members are expected to review committee reports, monthly budgets and any other additional materials prior to each board and/or committee meeting.

· Directors are asked to commit to a 2-year term but are eligible for future terms.

· In addition to board meetings, we ask each board member to give to the foundation in accordance with their means and to connect the organization to opportunities for the communities we serve.

How to get involved?

We encourage anyone interested in board service to volunteer in the board or with the organization where their skills and experience can best be utilized. These committees include: Governance, Fundraising, and Events. We generally ask prospective members to attend two meetings and a volunteer prior to board service. This allows us to get to know you/you to get to know our work!
