We are seeking dedicated volunteers to help facilitate workshops during our Detroit Summer Camp 2025, which will run from July 7, 2025, to August 7, 2025. The camp will be held at First Baptist Institutional Church, 17101 W Seven Mile Rd, Detroit, MI 48235.

Volunteers will assist in leading rotating program sessions designed to provide educational enrichment and skill development for 75 participants aged 5-13. The sessions include:

  • STEM Workshops: Hands-on projects to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  • Financial Literacy: Interactive lessons on budgeting, saving, and basic financial concepts.

  • Career Development: Activities such as resume building, mock interviews, and discussions about various professions.

  • Leadership Training: Exercises to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Recreational Activities: Physical activities including basketball and field games to promote health and wellness.

  • Creative Arts: Sessions in arts and crafts, drumline, and gardening to foster creativity and self-expression.

Volunteers will work with small groups of participants, ensuring age-appropriate engagement and learning. Each group will have designated counselors, but volunteers will play a crucial role in facilitating activities and providing support.

Requirements:

  • All volunteers must pass a background check.

  • Volunteers should be available during the camp’s rotating session hours (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Thursday).

  • A passion for working with youth and contributing to their educational and personal growth.

Description

Avengers Youth Mentoring Organization in Houston, TX is a non-profit organization that provides mentoring and support services to young people in the community. We aim to help youth develop life skills, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential.

We offer a range of programs and services, including one-on-one mentoring, group mentoring, tutoring, leadership development, college readiness, and career exploration. We also provide a variety of recreational and enrichment activities, such as sports teams, art programs, and field trips.

We are committed to helping young people overcome challenges and build resilience. Our staff and volunteers work closely with youth to provide guidance and support, and to help them develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
