Our Media & Marketing Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in media, marketing, and social justice advocacy. As a volunteer, you’ll develop and implement marketing strategies to raise awareness about the societal impact of mass incarceration, police brutality, and housing discrimination, while supporting efforts to uplift directly-impacted communities.
Program Objectives:
- Create and execute marketing plans to increase movement presence and awareness
- Expand product and service distribution channels
- Drive sales growth and customer engagement
- Enhance volunteer recruitment and retention
- Boost exposure, promotion, and funding for organizational programs
- Develop a marketing budget and apply for grant funding

Program Structure:
This 12-week remote training (3-6 hours per week) is followed by a 9-month hands-on apprenticeship, where each participant will assume specific responsibilities based on their role.
Qualifications for Success:
- Experience in media, marketing, social justice, and nonprofit sectors
- Proficiency with marketing tools, social media platforms, and film production
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Ability to conduct research, work independently, and collaborate with a team
- Enthusiasm for social justice and the mission to end mass incarceration

Description
The United Black Family Scholarship Foundation is a 501c3, nonprofit organization that operates in Oklahoma, California, and New York. Established in 2014, it is a student and volunteer ran organization that was founded by incarcerated activist and author Ivan Kilgore. Our Vision: We believe everyone has a right to education that empowers them with solutions to social and economic problems caused by poverty and racism.
