At Affinity Care Hospice, we provide terminally ill patients and their loved ones with the support they need to live comfortably. Our dedicated hospice team focuses on maintaining dignity and enhancing quality of life through physical, emotional, and spiritual care. Integral to our holistic approach is our Music Therapy Program, which offers therapeutic benefits that ease pain, reduce anxiety, and foster connections between patients and their families.

Internship Program Overview

We are now accepting applications for our Music Therapy Internship Program! Interns will join our interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals completing coursework for a music therapy bachelor's degree or equivalency from an AMTA accredited university.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and co-lead music therapy sessions for hospice patients and families
  • Participate in individual, group, and family settings.
  • Complete a final project that includes creating or investigating resources that benefit patients, families, future interns, and/or the hospice team.
  • Participate in the annual memorial service.

What We Offer

Supervision:Interns will receive music and clinical supervision from a hospice music therapist.

Experience: Gain hands-on clinical experience and enhance your musicianship over the course of the internship.

Flexibility: Scheduling based on your needs and availability.

Skills Development: Develop proficiency in hospice music therapy techniques.

Application Requirements

To apply for the AMTA National Roster Internship in Music Therapy, please submit the following:

  • Resume (required)
  • Cover Letter (optional)
  • Two Reference Letters outlining your musical, clinical, and professional strengths. (required)
  • Song List 5-10 songs in various styles on guitar with voice that could be used in hospice music therapy. A few of which you will be asked top play during your interview. (required)

We encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible. The internship requires travel within the Affinity CareHospice patient service area.
