Kaiser Hospice provides palliative care for patients who are at the end of life. We also support families for one year after their loved one's death. Grieving families can request a "memory"
teddy bear to be made out of the patient's favorite shirt, dress, or pajama.
We are seeking a volunteer who can drive to the family's home, meet with the family, and pick up the clothing. This requires sensitivity on the part of the volunteer, since the family member often feels sentimental about the clothing and benefits from an opportunity to reminisce, share stories, etc.
After picking up the clothing, the volunteer will deliver it to our hospice business office in Santa Clara by Great America. We will only ask the volunteer to pick up clothing that is within a 15-minute drive.
Volunteer will be needed to pick up clothing from 4-5 families per month, which will require about 3-5 hours per month.
IMPORTANT: Volunteer applicant will need to authorize Kaiser Hospice to run a background check, and schedule a drug test. Applicant will also be scheduled to visit our health services department to receive a TB test, and to ensure that all vaccinations are up to date. There is NO cost to the applicant for any of these services.
Kaiser Hospice is very flexible and appreciative. If a specific delivery does not work for the volunteer, we can provide a hospice staff member to pick it up.
