Ultimate Hike is a national endurance event where participants hike to raise critical funds for childhood cancer research, while also pushing their physical limits on beautiful and challenging trails. The Central Texas Ultimate Hike provides a unique opportunity for volunteers to support hikers through their journey.
Emergency Medical Volunteers are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of participants. Duties include rendering medical aid within their designated treatment credentials to any Ultimate Hike participant, including hikers, volunteers, and staff in need. Volunteers will assist hikers with blister care and taping, monitor hikers for medical needs such as hydration and physical ailments, and collaborate with the Signature Event Manager and CureSearch staff to make decisions for hikers who may need to be removed from the trail. In the event that a hiker requires medical assistance on the trail, the EMS volunteer may be asked to hike in and provide support to the hiker or coach assisting them.

- Ability to be at aid stations for 16-20 hours and stand for long periods of time.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to end childhood cancer by driving targeted and innovative research with measurable results in an accelerated time frame.
Description
CureSearch for Children’s Cancer is a national non-profit foundation that accelerates the search for cures for children’s cancer by driving innovation, transcending research barriers and solving the field’s most challenging problems. We fight every day to make treatments and cures possible for the 47 children diagnosed with cancer each day. We do this in three ways:
- We accelerate the search for cures by posing essential challenges to scientists and inviting teams to overcome them with innovative research approaches.
- We transcend the barriers of a broken research system by establishing new pathways to end children’s cancer.
- We provide resources and education, so no child faces a cancer diagnosis without a fully equipped support team.
