We’ll have the following activities depending on conditions;

  • Tandem surfing
  • Body-boarding
  • Beach Obstacle Course
  • Fun Beach Games

We provide all the gear needed for a fun safe day at the beach. You only need to bring your personal items such as a towel, change of clothes, etc.

At the end of the day we provide lunch for all of the kids who participated and our volunteers. We do not provide lunch for the participant’s families as it is too difficult for us to plan appropriately and adds to our costs. Also - we do not prepare special options for those with dietary limitations, if this affects you, please plan accordingly.

We wrap the day up with a fun filled celebration of all the successes with our award ceremony where each participant receives a Best Day team surfer medal.

Mission Statement

Best Day Foundation enables children with special needs to build confidence and self-esteem through safe fun, adventure activities which stretch their limits, expand their true potential and connect them with diverse populations in their community.

Description

Our programs empower local volunteers with the infrastructure, education and training to create scalable, self-sustaining programs that deliver safe outdoor experiences to children with special needs. Current activities include surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, stand up paddling (SUP), snow sports, and more.

We serve children aged 4-24 with any physical or developmental special need including Autism, Cerbral Palsy, Down syndrome, blindness, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and more.

Our community volunteers, who are integral to each event, often say that their experience volunteering is as fun and life-changing for them as it is for the children they help.

Current Best Day chapters serve Florida, New Jersey, and California (Ventura, Orange County, San Diego,and Santa Barbara areas).

As of April, 2016 the organization has held 147 events serving more than 5,000 children with special needs with the help of thousands of community volunteers who have contributed over 94,000 hours of community service. Once you join us you will be hooked... at least that's what our volunteers keep telling us. What are you waiting for... let's get started!
