Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for every child who attends its camps. For many children, camp is a time of joy, growth, and exploration-but hunger can be a hidden barrier. In the counties where Girl Scouts of Central Indiana hosts camps, food insecurity remains a pressing issue:
* Clay County (Camp Na Wa Kwa): 14.3% of residents experience food insecurity, with limited access to grocery stores and meal programs. Many campers from this area rely on school meals and may face hunger when school is out.
* Tippecanoe County (Camp Sycamore Valley): 14.8% of residents are food insecure, including many children who benefit from school-based meal assistance but may struggle to access food in the summer months.
* Brown County (Camp Gallahue): 13.5% of residents experience food insecurity, with rural families facing additional challenges in accessing consistent, nutritious meals.
On May 10 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., you can join Pack Away Hunger's mission of eliminating hunger by packing 15,000 meals to benefit the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. We'll be creating the meals assembly-line style, so you will be serving alongside your family, friends and fellow community members. The shelf-stable meals are a nutritious mix of rice, veggies, soy and a super powerful vitamin/mineral powder. Think Rice-A-Roni, but healthier! All meals packed will be distributed to girls attending Girl Scouts of Central Indiana camps.

Mission Statement
Pack Away Hunger’s mission is to eliminate hunger in Indiana and around the world starts with providing nutritious food, hunger education, and service opportunities.
Description
Founded in 2010, PAH is an Indianapolis based non-profit dedicated to eliminating hunger in Indiana and around the world through nutritious food, education and service. As its main program, PAH facilitates inclusive, assembly-line style meal packing events that engage volunteers from schools, corporate, civic and social organizations and produce highly-nutritious, shelf-stable Nutri-Plenty(r) meals made of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and an M+ vitamins/minerals packet. Meals are then sent to local or international hunger relief organizations for distribution to those seeking hunger relief assistance. PAH’s long-term vision is a world where everyone has access to a nutritious meal and the opportunity to give back.
Additionally, PAH provides a specialized program focused on nutrition and hunger education tailored specifically for students. Alongside packaging meals with their peers, participants in PAH's Nutrition & Hunger Education program also engage in a 30-45 minute session on the importance of nutrition and hunger awareness, exploring the impact on both the students themselves and their communities. The entire event is designed to be completed within two hours. First offered in 2021, PAH has since conducted 20 nutrition & hunger education meal packing events and educated 1,770 students aged 6-18.
