A little bit about CASAs - Spokane County CASA is made up of volunteers from various backgrounds who are extensively trained (30 hours & continuous) to represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. CASAs are an important element to the court process as a non-biased advocate. Become a volunteer and be the voice of a child!

Please feel free to reach out to Mandy Cripps, program coordinator at 477-2460 or mcripps@spokanecounty.org or email me at spokane@wachildadvocates.org . We look forward to hearing from you!

About WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF CHILD ADVOCATE PROGRAMS

Location:

19550 INTERNATIONAL BLVD, SEATAC, WA 98188, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs is to develop the capacity of local child advocate/GAL programs to advocate for abused and neglected children through training, networking and technical assistance.

Description

We want to ensure that children in foster care who are appointed one of our Child Advocates are:

  • Reunified with their parents when safe and as quickly as possible
  • Placed with a family member (or non-stranger) when possible
  • Have an advocate who is constantly and actively engaged in advocating for the child’s best interests from the start of the advocate’s involvement until the child achieves permanence.

Our organization has been successfully working with all 35 of our local programs (also known locally as "CASA", "Child Advocates" or "Guardians ad Litem" depending on local factors and naming conventions) in Washington since 1993.
