Reports to: Director, Donor Development

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and passionate Volunteer Development Associate to support our development team in advancing the mission of National Alliance against Disparities in Public Health (NADPH). This volunteer position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and program development. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an interest in nonprofit work, and a desire to help build sustainable partnerships with donors and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Donor Research: Assist in researching and identifying potential donors, sponsors, and partners by gathering information from online databases and other sources.
  • Fundraising Support: Help with planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and activities.
  • Database Management: Assist in updating and maintaining donor and contact databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Donor Communication: Help draft thank-you letters, donation acknowledgments, and impact reports to donors and supporters.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing fundraising events, virtual campaigns, and donor appreciation events.
  • Social Media and Outreach: Support the team with social media posts, email campaigns, and other outreach efforts aimed at increasing visibility and engagement with supporters.
  • Grant Research: Help research potential grant opportunities and assist with the preparation of grant proposals or applications.
  • Administrative Tasks: Provide general administrative support to the development team, including filing, preparing documents, and data entry as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Be a US citizen living in the United States, no international candidates please.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Comfortable working with databases, spreadsheets, and digital tools (experience with Salesforce, Google Workspace, or similar tools is a plus).
  • Passionate about the mission of NADPH and eager to support its growth and sustainability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Previous volunteer or professional experience in nonprofit development is a plus but not required.
  • Able to pass a background check.

One of NADPH’s major objectives is to Bridge the Gap in access to advanced, precision-based healthcare in underserved and under-resourced communities, NADPH seeks to do this by providing access to information, subject matter experts, and technology that help community members: 1) raise their awareness and education about the array of factors impacting their quality of health and healthcare; 2) capture, manage, and understand their health information across its various domains, and 3) use this increased knowledge and access more actionably to make better decisions about their health and healthcare.

Description

. Our five focus areas to best accomplish these outcomes include:

  • Increase awareness and education in life science, clinical research and Precision Medicine in underrepresented communities
  • Increase participation of underrepresented populations in clinical research
  • Establish dedicated resources for health disparities scientific research (e.g. databases, biobanks, etc.)
  • Advance understanding of the biology of health disparities through scientific research
  • Train next generation of health scientists in underrepresented communities
