Volunteer Position: Accountant (Treasurer)

Hours: Approximately 10 hours per quarter

Location: Kansas City (remote)

The Resilient Activist is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting environmental activists and individuals navigating the emotional challenges of eco-anxiety, grief, and burnout. Our mission is to help people build emotional resilience, foster well-being, and promote sustainable living practices. Through our programs, workshops, and resources, we empower individuals to care for their mental health while advancing the cause of environmental justice and sustainability.

Position Overview

We are seeking a volunteer Accountant to act as our Treasurer, providing strategic financial oversight for The Resilient Activist. This is a volunteer position, suitable for a CPA, finance professional, or graduate student with a strong interest in nonprofit financial management. The Accountant will assist in analyzing financial statements, reviewing revenue streams, advising on financial strategy, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities:

• Review monthly and quarterly financial reports prepared by the Bookkeeper.

• Provide financial analysis of revenue, expenses, and cash flow.

• Offer strategic advice on financial planning, including budgeting and forecasting.

• Advise on cost-saving measures and opportunities for financial growth.

• Review and help set financial goals and priorities for The Resilient Activist.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure financial stability and the organization’s continued growth.

• Assist with year-end financial statements and preparation for annual audits.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and advise on financial data.

• Proficiency in accounting software

• Understanding of nonprofit financial management, including revenue generation, grants, and donations.

• A passion for The Resilient Activist's mission and the well-being of environmental advocates.
