Volunteer Position: Bookkeeper
Hours: 10 hours per month
Location: Kansas City (local preferred)
Reports To: Executive Director
About The Resilient Activist
The Resilient Activist is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering environmental activists and individuals facing eco-anxiety, grief, and burnout. Our mission is to foster emotional resilience, community well-being, and sustainable living practices. Through programs, workshops, and educational resources, we help people find balance in their personal and collective advocacy efforts, supporting them in their work toward environmental justice and sustainability.
Position Overview
We are seeking a volunteer Bookkeeper to assist with the financial management of The Resilient Activist. This role involves managing day-to-day financial tasks, ensuring that records are accurate, and preparing reports for our monthly board meetings. The Bookkeeper will play a key role in helping us maintain financial health and transparency, which is crucial to sustaining our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial reports for the monthly board meetings, summarizing income and expenses.
- Make bank deposits and manage cash flow.
- Pay bills in a timely manner, ensuring that all financial obligations are met.
- Enter financial data into accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).
- Ensure all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support the Executive Director with any additional financial tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Residency in the Greater Kansas City area.
- Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally with nonprofit organizations.
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- A passion for The Resilient Activist’s mission and work supporting environmental activists and resilience.
