Have you ever wanted to help your local park? Have you ever wanted to help to improve nature? If you are interested in helping while being outdoors, please join us at Pitch in For Parks! This is a recuring volunteer opportunity happening every Saturday while the weather is nice. We will help improve the trail network in the park by cutting back overgrowth, improving draining and removing tripping hazards. We will also work to improve the ecology of the park by removing invasive plant species. All tools and PPE will be provided, just wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and appropriate close toed work boots. Description
John Boyd Thacher State offers environmental education for the public and volunteer opportunities to individuals, school groups, businesses, and people who just love the park. Our volunteer opportunities include helping staff with large events, doing trail work to make them safe for park patrons, removing invasive species to help with ecological restoration, and animal monitoring.
