- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Safety for Seniors seeks volunteers to conduct in-home safety assessments and educate older adults about fire and fall prevention. After participating in a short training session, volunteers work together in pairs to inspect seniors' homes room by room, make safety recommendations, and distribute kits of free safety supplies.
Safety checks can be scheduled at individual volunteers' convenience. Additionally, Safety for Seniors can host service projects for groups of 10 or more.
About In Service of Seniors: Pittsburgh
221 Penn Avenue, Wilkinsburg, PA 15221, US
In Service of Seniors: Pittsburgh (ISOS), a program of Wesley Family Services, has a mission to maximize the independence of older adults in Allegheny County through practical volunteer-based supports.
In Service of Seniors: Pittsburgh is a part of the Open Your Heart to a Senior (OYHS) initiative of the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Seniors who need some extra support to live independently at home and feel connected to their community are matched with volunteers in their neighborhood.
Volunteers are able to have flexible/self-service scheduling through an online database which allows volunteers to view and select activities that they would like to do. Some of the activities available are grocery shopping for or with an older adult, providing rides to appointments, friendly visiting, helping a senior with low vision read their mail, and more!
We also offer Medicare counseling through our APPRISE program and home safety checks for seniors through the Safety for Seniors program.
We'll work with your schedule.
