Description of Duties : The Interview Coach will assist participants in preparing for job interviews. Guide through mock interviews, help participants improve their interview techniques, and offer tips for presenting themselves with confidence to potential employers.
Impact : The Interview Coach efforts will increase quality of service delivery and community member participation. In this role, the Interview Coach will support the GES team to successfully engage participants in Gateways Employment activities that increase job readiness skills and access to local jobs that support them to obtain employment.
Specific Responsibilities : Conduct mock interviews with adults, providing real job interview scenarios. Provide participants with constructive feedback on responses, body language and overall presentation. Practice interview techniques including answering common questions, highlighting strengths and addressing weaknesses. Provide guidance on appropriate attire and professional behavior for interviews. Support participants to prepare questions for the prospective employer they can ask during the interview. Offer encouragement and praise throughout the process to support in building confidence.
Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed : Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. Experience with job interviews or hiring practices is a plus. Ability to provide constructive feedback in a positive and supportive manner. Patience and empathy. Must be bi-lingual (English and Spanish). Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Must demonstrate cultural competence and be sensitive to vulnerable populations.
Dress Code: Business casual attire (i.e. pants, blouse) and closed toe shoes required. Shoes must provide safe and secure footing.
Time Commitment : Flexible hours based on availability, typically 2-3 hours a week or 2-3 hours a month on Wednesday and Friday mornings.
Covid-19 Vacc ina tion and Masking: Regardless of vaccination status, masking is optional. MEND will continue to provide masks for volunteers.
