Mission Statement
We are a beacon of hope and transformation for teens in early addiction recovery and their families. We take pride in being a comprehensive recovery program that utilizes the Alternative Peer Group (APG) model of recovery that understands the unique challenges that come with the first 18 months to 4 years of early recovery. Through peer recovery, and community support, we provide the guidance and care needed to help young people reclaim their lives.
Description
We focus on creating an environment that fosters positive peer relationships, facilitating structured activities that build community, involving families in recovery work, and serving as a hub for community recovery resources. Our main purpose is helping youth build a fulfilling life beyond just abstaining from substances. APGs promote enthusiastic recovery that focuses on making sobriety engaging and fulfilling rather than focusing on deprivation. We promote recovery as an opportunity for positive life changes through activities that build community bonds and meaningful connections.
Collective Roots APG is currently the only APG in Oregon. It was founded in 2022 to fill a need to help Portland area youth engage in recovery during a time where recovery resources were scarce. Many people have never heard of an alternative peer group. They have been around since 1971 in other parts of the country, and they have helped thousands of families heal from the effects of alcohol and substance use. Please check out our website to gain a clear understanding of the important work we do.
