Call for Board Nominations

The Visual Art Center of New Jersey is seeking nominees for the organization's board of trustees. The Art Center is an accredited contemporary art museum and studio school. In addition, our in-community programs serve the most vulnerable populations in New Jersey, including at-risk youth, the elderly, people with disabilities, veterans, individuals from low-income households, immigrant populations, and English-language learners like those in our Calta21 program. Having a strong board that’s representative of the different communities in New Jersey is key to our long-term success.

Art Center board members provide overall governance for the Art Center and play a key role in overseeing the Art Center’s strategic direction. Board members serve on Board committees and can focus on particular areas of their interest. Board members commit to assisting with fundraising and make a yearly annual contribution.

Art Center board members serve a three-year term beginning in June and board members can serve for up to two consecutive terms. The board meets five times a year.

The Visual Arts Center is looking for individuals who:

• Have an interest in the arts and believe in the power of art to transform lives

• Are willing to bring their expertise and experiences to the board. Experience in finance, investments, HR, law, and/or fundraising/development is especially relevant

• Have past non-profit board or volunteer experience

The Visual Arts Center is committed to representing our diverse community and highly encourages applications from individuals from the BIPOC, disability, and LGBTQ communities.
