Volunteers Needed for the Rocky Neck Runfest! Operation Paws on the Ground is honored to be the charity beneficiary of the 2025 Rocky Neck Runfest-a breathtaking event along the beach and trails of Rocky Neck State Park. This annual event, hosted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation, provides crucial support for our mission of helping veterans through the powerful bond with canines. To make this event possible, we need at least 20 volunteers! Can you help? Event Date: Sunday, April 13, 2025 Location: Rocky Neck State Park, 244 West Main Street, East Lyme, CT Race Start Time: 8:00 AM Volunteer Roles & Times Needed: Registration (6:30 AM - 8:30 AM) - Help check in runners & distribute bibs (5 spots) Course Monitors - Road (7:15 AM - 12:15 PM) - Direct & cheer on runners (2 spots) Course Monitors - Trail: Shift 1 (7:30 AM - 11:00 AM) (6 spots) Shift 2 (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) (5 spots) Water Stations: Road (7:30 AM - 12:15 PM) (4 spots) Trail (7:45 AM - 1:00 PM) (2 spots) Transition/Exchange Zone (7:45 AM - 12:15 PM) - Assist runners at exchanges (2 spots) Athlete Food Service (7:45 AM - 1:15 PM) - Set up & distribute food (3 spots) Volunteer Perks: Free coffee & breakfast upon arrival Exclusive volunteer T-shirt Post-race brunch $5 race credit for all volunteers ($10 credit for Course Monitors, transferable to friends & family)

Description

We work to train both the dog and their veteran handler to become a team. The relationship they form helps both the human and canine overcome physical and emotional scars.
