ORGANIZATION: TRI-CITIES HISTORICAL MUSEUM INC

Come see what "behind the scenes" at a Museum looks like! If you like research, cataloging, and history, this is the spot for you! The Tri-Cities Historical Museum houses most of its artifacts at our Community Archive and Research Center (CARC) located just a few miles away from our main Museum building in downtown Grand Haven.

Volunteers in this space help us organize, research, catalog, inventory, and photograph items in our collection. These activities help to make the history of the Tri-Cities accessible to the community for their own knowledge and research purposes! If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work with historical artifacts, this is a great place to find out!

Scheduling for this type of volunteering is flexible. CARC is open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, and volunteers are welcome to come in any day of the week for any amount of time, with a scheduled shift. We prefer if volunteers begin a project that they are able to volunteer on a somewhat consistent basis (once a week, once every other week, etc.) However, there are also shorter term projects for volunteers who can’t come in frequently.

Our CARC volunteers are required to attend training to work with historical materials. To schedule your orientation and training, contact Volunteer Coordinator, Emily Cory-Diller, at ediller@tchmuseum.org, or apply to volunteer on our website, https://www.tri-citiesmuseum.org/volunteer.
