Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Back On My Feet

A few hours, one day will mean the world to someone! The Cherry Blossom race in Seward Park has graciously provided entries for Back on My Feet Seattle members (individuals experiencing, and at risk of homelessness) to experience this beautiful community race in exchange for volunteers to support their Half Marathon on Sunday, March 23rd. If you love high-fives, passing out water, cheering folks on, or helping with set-up and clean up while celebrating your community, this is a fantastic opportunity! IF you're signing up with a friend, let us know and we'll ask the race to assign you together!

About Back On My Feet

Location:

100 S Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19110, US

Mission Statement

Back on My Feet empowers people to achieve economic independence through fitness and community. Who We Help: We work with people experiencing homelessness or addiction who currently reside within shelters and recovery facilities. How It Works: We run and walk 2-3 times a week to build a sense of community and responsibility. With the support of workforce development, our members can work toward sustainable employment and self-sufficiency.

Description

Back on My Feet seeks to revolutionize the way society approaches homelessness. Our unique model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead. For all in need, we aim to provide: practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability; and a community that offers compassion and hope.

For all with the capacity to serve - volunteers, donors, community and corporate partners - we seek to engage you in the profound experience of empowering individuals to achieve what once seemed impossible through the seemingly simple act of putting one foot in front of the other.
