Bookkeeper - Sierra Club Ohio

The role of the Bookkeeper is to manage the Chapter's Quickbooks account, to reconcile the Quickbooks account with bank statements and the National Sierra Club's Chapter revenue reports, to enter donations into the Sierra Club database, and to update donor records in the database. This position requires Ohio residency.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Record all Ohio Chapter receipts and receivables in Quickbooks Online
  • Record all Ohio Chapter payments and payables in Quickbooks Online
  • Make sure all revenue and expense entries include class codes as desinated by Sierra Club National Finance Department
  • Review and maintain the Quickbooks account codes as approved by the National Sierra Club Chapter Finance Department, and use them for all transacions as appropriate
  • Post adjustment journal entries into Quickbooks Online as needed within the scope of the Sierra Club National Finance Department's requirements
  • Monitor cash flow to avoid becoming delinquent in paying financial obligations and report and issues to the Treasurer
  • Review the Ohio Chapter's monthly fundig allocation reports from National Sierra Club regarding Chapter finances
  • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly by comparing QuickBooks Online records with bank statements and with the Ohio Chapter reports received from the National Sierra Club

The Bookkeeper reporsts to the Treasurer and provides assistance to the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Resident of Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of exposure to finance and tracking expenses preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in maintaining databases
  • Experience in bookkeeping and financial management
  • Independent self starter | Team player
  • Willingess to learn and develop new skills
