ORGANIZATION: Hepatitis Education Project

Image_202211141602

Please do not show up for your first volunteer shift until you have been in touch with our volunteer coordinator about the onboarding process. We will send you an email shortly after sign-up.

Hepatitis Education Project (HEP) needs regular volunteers to assist us in running our syringe services program (SSP). At our SSP, volunteers provide our clients with important harm reduction resources such as overdose reversal kits (naloxone) and sterile supplies for safer drug use. This is an incredible opportunity for anyone who enjoys talking to people and supporting our neighbors. Come help us in our mission to prevent overdose deaths and the spread of hepatitis in our community!

Our SSP is open Monday-Thursday from 12:30PM-5:30PM. We are currently looking for a weekly volunteer who can work the full shift on Wednesdays, but we are open to discussing shorter or less frequent shifts if needed.

If you are interested in volunteering with us but that time does not work for you, or if you are interested in learning about other volunteer opportunities besides running our SSP, we would still love to hear from you.

Our parking lot is located to the right of our building. Look for POD storage in back. Masks are required for volunteers and staff.

For more information, email us at volunteers@hep.org.

About Hepatitis Education Project

Location:

1621 S Jackson Street, Suite 201, Seattle, WA 98144, US

Mission Statement

The Hepatitis Education Project (HEP) is committed to improving health of underserved communities disproportionately impacted by viral hepatitis.

Description

By making information, resources, and health services readily available for people affected by hepatitis, HEP strives to realize its vision of a world where everybody has access to affordable, high-quality care to support all their health needs. Founded in 1993 by a coalition of clinicians and patients, HEP has grown from a small group of volunteers to a staff of 19. Today, HEP still provides free hepatitis screening and vaccines, but its services now include a needle exchange, low-barrier prescriptions for buprenorphine, anonymous drug testing for participants, and medical case management for hepatitis C treatment.
