Summary: Safely collect donations from residential and commercial donors. Load and unload items on and off trucks
Responsibilities:
Work with the driver to ensure the truck is loaded with supplies (tools, hand truck, straps, receipts, etc.).
Assist the driver with directions from a map or GPS.
Determine if items are acceptable (usable by clients, clean, functional, in good working order, with all parts).
Inspect items for health and safety issues (e.g., stains, rips, broken or missing parts, mold,infestations, etc...).
Respectfully refuse any items that do not meet Household Goods guidelines.
Request tax-deductible donation.
Understand Household Goods’ needs (items, volunteers, funding).
Neatly and accurately record items and cash donation on Donor Receipt.
Enthusiastically thank donors for generous donations.
Ensure that goods are safely secured in trucks.
Assist in unloading of trucks at Household Goods.
Qualifications:
Able to safely lift 50 pounds and maneuver large objects
18 years of age or older

Weekdays and Saturday

Household Goods is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Acton, MA that provides household goods, free of charge, to people in need.
Description
We accept donations of gently used household items that will help people make a home. Our volunteers receive, sort and distribute items to individuals and families from over 130 communities in eastern Massachusetts. As an organization staffed by volunteers, we depend on the generosity of community members for goods, time and financial support.
