Come and enjoy a couple of hours of time with our kids! We have games, movies, air hockey, and arts and crafts! We love talking with the kids and hearing about thier interests and needs! We enjoy learning from them about their family culture and experiences. Being around kids is enlightening, fun and heart-warming! Mission Statement

The Hive is a place to hang out after school for kids ages 3rd through 8th grade! Kids are encouraged to have fun and BE KIDS!!

Description

In 2024, individuals saw a need to help the youth in Silverton, Oregon. Parents were asking for free/reduced cost childcare for elementary and middle school aged kids, grades 3 rd through 8 th.

The idea for THE HIVE was born in response to these questions, and the real struggle that exists for parents who work and are still unable to afford childcare. For Parents that must have two jobs to make ends meet yet cannot afford childcare. For parents who want a safe and inclusive place for their kids to go until they can get off work.

​THE HIVE is available to 3 rd through 8 th graders every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school until 5:30PM. Our goal is to be able to continue to offer free/reduced childcare to the Silver Falls School District for many years to come, with the support of our community and parents who know the importance of a safe and inclusive place for kids to BE KIDS!

REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 2.5 - 3 hours per shift
  • Must complete a background check and be registered with the Oregon Central Background Registry (State law requirements) to volunteer. We provide a orientation/training and all fees covered to register.
