Allatoona - Tanyard Creek Volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Park host volunteer opportunity with USACE for the Tanyard Creek Boat Ramp located on Allatoona Lake.

This park is a boat launching/retrieving ramp only.

A campsite with electricity (50 amp), water, and sewage will be provided in exchange for a 20/25-hour work week.

Volunteers will work some weekends and holidays with extended holiday hours. Duties include visitor assistance and information services such as redeeming USACE Annual Pass purchases, and frequent patrols throughout the park to ensure the compliance of general park rules by the public. Volunteers will ensure fee compliance but will not be handling user fees.

Background checks are required by USACE for volunteers.

The work environment is both indoors (working gatehouse) and outdoors (frequent park inspections). This is one of our busiest parks, so the workload can be quite difficult but easily manageable. Must be comfortable with working with others, including other sets of volunteers, USACE staff, and the general public.

Surrounded by Allatoona Lake wildlife (plants, trees, insects, animals). Also prone to dangerous weather hazards (thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, extreme cold/heat, etc.). Interactions with the public can also be hazardous under certain circumstances.
