Africa Health Organisation (AHO) Role Description
The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Fundraising, coordinate fundraising activities across the UK, US, EU, Asia Oceania, and the Diaspora, and supervise fundraising volunteers in your local area. Fundraising Coordinator Volunteers operate in a specific location in a country; for example, in the UK, they are in charge of the Country, Regions, Counties, Districts, Cities, Towns, and Parishes.
A good example is the Fundraising Country Coordinator for England, who will supervise the Fundraising Regional Coordinator Volunteer for the East of England Region, who will oversee the Fundraising County Coordinator Volunteer for Norfolk County, who will oversee the Fundraising Coordinators of the Cities and Towns of Norwich, King's Lynn, Great Yarmouth, Thetford, Cromer, and the Districts of Broadland, North Norfolk, South Norfolk, West Norfolk, and Breckland, who will support the Fundraising Community Parish Volunteers in charge of parishes like Bowthorpe.

This structure can be applied to any part of the UK, e.g., England-West of England Region-Somerset County-Bath & North East Somerset District-Bristol City-Stowey Sutton Parish.
Purpose of Role of the Fundraising Coordinator Volunteers:
- To support the organisation's long-term financial sustainability.
- To explore a variety of funding streams that could be suitable for the organisation.
- Increase contributions to the organisation by building relationships and exploring new fundraising opportunities from various sources.
- Raise awareness of the organisation's work, aims and goals.
- Line manage Community Volunteers below you.
- This exciting role involves developing and maintaining a fundraising programme for AHO.
Duties and Responsibilities
Income Generation
- Manage, support, develop and run imaginative fundraising activities, some of which will be events-based.
- Contribute to grant applications and fundraising events.
- Inspire new supporters to raise money through regular, one-off, gift aid and legacy giving while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters.
- Develop and broaden corporate support.
- Develop and coordinate web-based fundraising, including social media.
- Recruit fundraising volunteers and provide excellent fundraising support to the
- general public and third-party fundraisers, including ad-hoc special events such as rotary clubs.
- Responsible for the management and execution of an agreed number of community fundraising events.
- Provide them with the necessary fundraising materials, such as sponsor forms, a t-shirt and training advice.
- Line manage and provide support to Fundraising Community Volunteers.
Strategic Direction
- Maintain and update the fundraising and communications budgets with the Head of Fundraising.
- Collaborate with the Head of Fundraising to develop, evaluate and update a strategic plan to guide fundraising activities and revenue generation in order to further build AHO’s base of support.
- Work with the CEO and Head of Fundraising to have a good overall understanding of all revenue streams.
Communications
- Work with the Head of Fundraising & Marketing to raise the organisation's profile.
- Raise awareness of the organisation, its service, successes and plans in the local community through social media and the local press.
- Write and speak to a wide range of audiences as needed.
- Deliver presentations to interested groups and attend events as an AHO representative.
Administration
- Plan, budget and forecast fundraising income.
- Preparation of fundraising reports for the Board of Directors meetings.
- Maintaining the fundraising database and documents.
- Write and design organisational fundraising materials.
- Contribute updates on fundraising events and activities for quarterly newsletters.
- Write appeals and direct mail in collaboration with other team members.
- Manage the website fundraising content, including the blog.
Other
- Awareness of fundraising best practices and legislation, ensuring compliance with the Charities Act, Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising and FRSB codes of practice.
- Network with other fundraisers and staff when possible
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post
Qualifications, Skills and Experience - Person Specification
- Qualification in any subject or equivalent.
- At least a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in fundraising or managing fundraisers.
- Qualifications, Skills and Experience will be detailed from District to County, Region and National.
- No experience is required for those volunteering in Community Parish Fundraising Volunteers, as training will be provided.
- A strong commitment to the aims, objectives and values of AHO.
- Well-established and practised organizational and planning skills, extensive knowledge and experience in UK, US and EU charity fundraising.
Languages requirements
The ability to speak one of Africa's widely spoken languages would be an added advantage e.g. Afrikaans, Amharic, Arabic, Bemba, Berber, Chewa, Chinese, Dinka, English, French, Fula, Fulani, German, Greek, Hausa, Hindi, Igbo, Italian, Japanese, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Kongo, Korean, Lingala, Malagasy, Mandinka, Nambia, Ndebele, Nyanja, Oromo, Portuguese, Russian, Sango, Sesotho, Shona, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Swati, Thai, Tigrinya, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Vietnamese, Xhosa, Yoruba, Zulu, etc. You are still welcome to apply if you don't speak any of the above languages.
