Now more than ever, LGBTQ+ people need safe, affirming resources. Across the U.S., anti-LGBTQ+ policies and rising discrimination are making it harder for our community to access critical support. You can make a difference by helping maintain and expand InReach across the West Coast-ensuring that no one is left without the help they need to survive and thrive.

Join InReach’s Resource Team and play a vital role in maintaining and expanding the world’s first open source platform connecting LGBTQ+ people facing persecution and discrimination with safe, verified resources. As a West Coast Resource Volunteer, you'll help ensure LGBTQ+ community members across the region can easily access essential support-including safe housing, affirming immigration services, mental health care, gender-affirming care, and more.

Time Commitment
- Earliest available start date: March 17, 2025
- Minimum 12 hours per month (Remote, Unpaid)
- Re-verification: Ensure existing resource listings in the West Coast remain accurate and up-to-date through online, phone, and email research. Enter updates in English using InReach’s data portal.
- Vetting: Identify and vet new direct service providers across the West Coast, ensuring they meet InReach’s safety and inclusion standards before adding them to the platform.
- [Optional] Community Engagement: If you're interested, you can also support additional efforts to raise awareness about InReach and help LGBTQ+ people across the West Coast connect with affirming resources.
- Professional proficiency in English
- At least 18 years old
- Reliable access to a computer and internet connection for completing remote tasks
- Willing and able to write using gender-inclusive language
- Comfortable using online communication tools (e.g., Google Suite, POINT, Discord, Zoom)
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Passionate about increasing access to safe resources for the diverse LGBTQ+ community
- Familiarity with LGBTQ+ resources in the West Coast is a big plus!

InReach is a trans-led nonprofit offering the world’s first open source platform connecting LGBTQ+ people facing persecution or discrimination with safe, independently verified resources. Our vision is for every LGBTQ+ person to have on-demand access to the safe resources they need to thrive.
InReach is available on web (desktop and mobile), and native iOS and Android. InReach’s open-source technology instantly matches trans and queer people in need with safe, independently verified housing, medical and mental health care, immigration and other legal help, meal assistance, education and employment, translation, community and spiritual support, and more critical services. App features include: documentation search filters, translation, saving and sharing resources, leaving public ratings/reviews, the ability to suggest new resources, and service provider features.
InReach serves as a comprehensive digital one-stop-shop for the intersectional LGBTQ+ community: InReach lists verified services for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers, refugees and other immigrants, LGBTQ+ BIPOC communities, trans and gender non-conforming folks, LGBTQ+ youth and caregivers, and more LGBTQ+ communities. The InReach App is free for everyone, including lawyers, case managers, social workers, and other providers searching for affirming resource referrals for LGBTQ+ clients.
