ORGANIZATION: Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program, Inc.

Did you ever wish you had a mentor who provided you with additional guidance when you were in middle school or high school? Latinas On the Verge of Excellence (L.O.V.E.) Mentoring is recruiting female-identifying university students and recent alumni to serve as volunteer mentors during our programs in the 2024-2025 academic year to help young female students to thrive!

The L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program supports and empowers young women to strive for success, both in school and in life, through mentorship and health interventions targeted at mental, reproductive, and physical health as well as college access and career readiness.

We specifically need Spanish Speaking mentors at the following school:

The Walter H. Crowley School of Leadership location at 50-40 Jacobus St, Elmhurst, NY 11373

Available Sessions (commit to at least one of them until May 2025)

Class 1: 10:25 am - 11:10 am
Class 2: 11:12 am - 11:55 am
Class 3: 11:57 am - 12:40 pm
Class 4: 12:40 pm - 1:25 pm

Description

Latinas On the Verge of Excellence - The L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program supports and empowers young women to strive both in school and in life through positive role modeling. The L.O.V.E. Mentoring Program works in partnership with NYC public schools, charter schools, colleges and universities, whose mission is to enhance the well-being of young girls and Latinx communities in New York City.

L.O.V.E. takes place each academic year from September to June, running for approximately 32 weeks. L.O.V.E. is a school-based curriculum program that consists of four core components: Mental health, Reproductive health, College access and Career readiness. Volunteer mentors meet with their mentees in partner schools on a weekly basis for an hour.
