RESPONSIBILITIES
You'll have the exciting opportunity to help plan and organize our monthly virtual social events, creating engaging and inclusive activities that bring our community together. Your creativity and organizational skills will be key in coordinating events that promote connection, fun, and support among our sailors, volunteers, and supporters. Additionally, you'll assist in drafting social media posts to share the highlights of our programs, celebrate milestones, and keep our community informed and inspired. By contributing to both virtual events and our social media presence, you'll help amplify the impact of SailBlind and foster a strong, connected network that continues to grow and thrive.
COMMITMENT
2 hours/week (virtual) May through September, biweekly check ins with SailBlind Director
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- SailBlind Application Form
- CORI background check
- Review and sign the SailBlind Volunteer Manual
TRAINING (OPTIONAL)
- Virtual orientation on Wednesday, May 14, 2025
- In-Person orientation at Community Boating on Saturday, May 17, 2025
*During both trainings, you will learn about Community Boating's safety procedure, blindness etiquette, how to guide someone who is visually impaired, and tips for teaching sailing to the blind.

Established in 1936, The Carroll Center has pioneered many innovative services for the blind and visually impaired. We have developed many methods for people with low vision to learn the skills to be independent in their homes, in class settings, and in their work places. Our services for the blind include vision rehabilitation services, vocational and transition programs, assistive technology training, educational support and recreation opportunities for individuals who are visually impaired of all ages. For over 70 years, The Carroll Center staff has provided help for the blind for thousands of blind and vision impaired persons with diverse opportunities for success and independent living.
