ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Texas Gulf Coast Region

Are you a veteran or enjoy working with veterans and their family members? Well this is the perfect opportunity for you. The Texas Gulf Coast American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) & International Services Department (ISD) is looking for highly motivated and talented volunteers that can dedicate 20 hours a week, 5 days a week towards hosting activities, participating in community events and developing partnerships with veteran organizations within the community. Can be virtual, in person, or hybrid! We will work with your schedule!

Job Description:

  • Conduct briefings and presentations on SAF programs and services.
  • Phone military families to provide information regarding SAF programs
  • and services.
  • Ensure military families have access to preparedness information related to emergency services through the Hero Care Network.
  • Provide additional regional outreach support, as appropriate.
  • Understand and apply Service to Armed Forces (SAF) policies, procedures and protocols related to Red Cross client services consistently and correctly.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of private personal information in accordance with Red Cross policies.
  • Maintain professionalism and conduct as stated in Red Cross policy.
  • Manage and supervise SAF & ISD operations for the chapter under the supervision of Regional Staff.

Required

  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer to include phone, personal computer and internet connection.
  • Demonstrated ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances and instill trust in others while upholding the values and principles of the American Red Cross.
  • Good computer skills to include use of Internet search tools; Internet; and Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook, word-processing.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
  • Able to work with diverse populations.
  • Willingness to comply with current public health and Red Cross policies.
  • Recommended/Helpful:
    • Knowledge/experience with the military
    • Able to support Red Cross SAF mission; have an awareness of and appreciation for military culture, military families, and veterans' issues
    • Bi-Lingual.
