Volunteers will record all types of written materials for readers who are visually impaired or have a print disability. They may also record programs or books for broadcast on a special online radio service for listeners who are visually impaired or print-disabled. In addition, some volunteers may read newspapers live each day.
We are particularly seeking volunteers who have a background in math, science, health care, law, or computer technology. We are also looking for readers who are fluent in other languages, particularly Arabic, Chinese, or Japanese.
Volunteer readers must be at least 18 years of age. They must pass an oral reading test and be able to attend orientation and training at our main office in St. Paul. It is not necessary to own recording or broadcasting equipment.
